The best reason not to vote for Noynoy Aquino

This was posted on Inquirer Politics this morning and it contains a great argument that will surely convince people not to vote of Noynoy Aquino as President in 2010.

And that argument, really boils down to the belief that Noynoy is a saint.

I would agree with the point that Noynoy is a saint among politicians. He has done nothing wrong, but he hasn't done anything right either. In fact, in all the years that he was a Congressman of Tarlac, he did nothing AT ALL.

Oh wait! He did file a number of bills. One wonders what became of these bills?

I won't vote Kalabasa for President, kahit ba kulay dilaw din siya.

Leadership is not experience alone

I found quite irritating Sen.Richard Gordon’s remark on the likelihood that Sen. Noynoy Aquino would run for president in 2010. Gordon said that leadership should be earned and not inherited.

Excuse me, Mr. Gordon. Noynoy is the best personification of an honest politician. Look into Senator Aquino’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) and you will see why he remains as “pure” as his parents. Despite the Aquino family’s prominence and influence here in the Philippines and worldwide renown, Senator Aquino and his siblings have remained humble and true to their word.

Mr. Gordon, being a leader is not only about how long you’ve been a senator or how long you’ve occupied a position of power. A leader must also have purity of heart and be conscientious. Having been born into a family that’s full of faith in God though not perfect, Noynoy has imbibed those virtues.

Gordon should not judge Noynoy because being a minion of the MalacaƱang occupant, he doesn’t have the moral stature to do so. Gordon made such a judgment because he knows he’d never win the presidency in 2010 in a contest between him and Noynoy.

I’ve been waiting for Noynoy’s announcement to run so that I would have reason to register myself as a voter. For now, it is only Noynoy I want to vote for as president. And I’m thanking him for heeding the challenge of saving our country from the hands of our dirty politicians. Mabuhay ka, Senator Noynoy!
