Bloggers, Twitterers, and Facebook users UNITE TO HELP TYPHOON ONDOY VICTIMS

This blog has been known to attack several Presidential candidates and other politicians, picking on the flaws of their candidacies and their premature campaigning.

For several days now, I've stopped hitting them and focused my energies towards rallying people to help the victims of Typhoon Ondoy as well as warn people of the impending onslaught of Typhoon Pepeng.

It is sad that certain more famous bloggers have taken the opportunity to continue attacking politicians like Manny Villar, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and even PNRC Chairman Richard "Dick" Gordon.

I don't think this will help deliver relief goods any faster or help people in rebuilding their homes, which is really the main priority at this point.

I have my own share of victims to help out right now.  My in-laws lost all of their possessions and their house in Provident Village in Marikina is still unlivable -- despite all the work we have put in to clear it off debris and about a ton of mud.

Right now, they are not suffering as much as people in evacuation centers and I know just how hard it is to live an evacuation center.  Already uncomfortable, grieving for their losses, suffering from all manner of shortages, and certainly pissed off it is easy to get them to heap all blame on government officials who are doing their best to help them out.

It is quite easy and in bad taste, especially if you can trace it back to certain candidates like Noynoy Aquino, Mar Roxas, or Chiz Escudero.

I am not saying that I can trace it back to these people but the people who are spreading venom and bile against other politicians are known to have brandished their sympathies for these candidates.  It would be horrible if Aquino, Roxas, and Escudero had actually given instructions to attack them.  It would even more horrible if these people attacked the rivals of their favored politicians on their own volition.

I guess, even at the height of disasters and even when thousands of people are dying, there are people who will take advantage of any and all opportunity to sling mud at their enemies instead of helping people out.  This is the depth of their concern for their fellow man.

I just hope that they never have to go through what typhoon victims, landslide victims, and other disaster victims are going through.  Politics is not only USELESS but ultimately HARMFUL and DEADLY when played during times of disasters.

Certainly, not everyone will get relief goods and not everyone will be able to get into evacuation centers, so, you have all the fodder you need for a negative campaign against any politician.

The formula is simple, blame whatever it is that is going wrong on any other politician.

Manolo, Ellen, and Carlo. Another typhoon is coming.  Your traffic is so huge it's like the readership of a small newspaper, I hope you use your power and influence to help people.  Our usual political commentary can wait.
