Corporate Corruption

Most of the times, when you hear Filipino talk about corruption, you can almost be always certain they are referring to an elected official or a government agency.

That's why, now and again, you'll hear people proposing the privatization of government in order to lessen corruption and there is some merit to the idea.

Except, of course, that corruption can exist in a corporation just as well.

Demanding kickbacks from suppliers and not paying suppliers while collecting full amounts from clients is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hiding the real earnings of the local subsidiary from the international mother corporation is the bigger game, I suppose.

Of course, this is all too hard to prove.

Suppliers would rather keep quiet and hope to get paid some time in the future.  The international mother corporation, as long as it gets whatever revenues that it expects, won't bother to look into the books of the local company.

Of course, then again, there's all sorts of other ways to keep people quiet.  Black mail and bribery are the most often employed techniques.

Entranced by the Non-Event Transfer of Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from St. Luke's to VMMC

Former President now Pampangga congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is now safely in the "Presidential Suite" of the Veterans' Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.

Pampangga Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
now at Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
The ride from The Fort Taguig to VMMC at Mindanao Ave. cnr. North Avenue in Quezon City took only an hour, despite the rainy weather and the rush hour traffic.

Arroyo's camp expected to be en route to the VMMC as early as 6:00 AM, but apparently, the timing of her departure from St. Luke's in Taguig City was to be decided by the DILG.

In any case, the ten hours of live coverage devoted to Arroyo's transfer to VMMC seems like an overkill, considering the Aquino Administration could find no credible threat against Arroyo.

What ensued in those hours were the exchange of snide remarks between Arroyo's people and Aquino's staff.

Over and over, reporters doing live coverage were interviewing the same people and asking more or less the same questions.

Given the number of reporters and facilities deployed, you'd think this was some historic event.  But, really, Arroyo is just being transferred from a plush hospital room to a less plush hospital room.

It would have been really something IF she was being transferred to a detention facility of the Southern Police District or the Pasay City Jail.

That would have been historically EPIC.

DJ Mojo gives up and leaves Mo Twister?

All the commotion over Mo Twister's latest 'leaked video' is probably just the tip of the iceberg of what really happens when the DJ is off the air.  It's quite a stretch to believe someone could have recovered a video file from Mo's laptop and just chanced upon finding that one particular video of him saying that Rhian Ramos had an abortion.

Mo Twister, according to some people, was actually behind the leaked videos of Maui Taylor, Hayden Kho, and other video scandals.  If for anything, some say this latest leakage is all part of a plot to destroy Rhian and GMA7 would be perfectly justified in pursuing legal action against Mo.

Anyway, apparently, it wasn't just Rhian who had called it quits with Mo Twister.

Fellow DJ Mojo Jojo who used to share the air time with him on Good Times With Mo on 89.9 has reportedly left Mo Twister.

Mojo is said to be now heading up a new show with major financial backing and will be airing soon.

Here's a picture for the show's merchandising.

President Benigno Aquino III Gets Angry Over Being Asked If PGMA Will Be Safe In VMMC

President Benigno S. Aquino III apparently got irked when he was asked about his reaction regarding a purported assassination plot against former President now Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

He dismissed the story related by Arroyo Spokesperson Len Horn as a work of fiction.

Asked if Arroyo will be adequately secured at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, Aquino said: “Parang ang haba naman ng tanong mo sa work of fiction. Para na akong sira-ulo sumasagot pa d’yan. 'Yung estado inatasan na mabantayan, at palagay ko mas maganda ang security na ipagkakaloob habang dito’y naka-detain siya rather than dating hindi siya naka-detain.”
