In 2008, controversy hounded Mendoza after she appeared nude for a jewelry advertisement. The following year, she posted an entry on her blog about her visit to the detention camps at the US naval base in Guantanamo, which she described as a “relaxing place.”I am appalled by the Philippine Daily Inquirer's inclusion of the details posted above in blockquote.
Other blogs condemned her ridiculous comments, forcing her to remove the entry in April 2009.

It just doesn't seem right at all to mention these things about a visitor, especially one invited as a goodwill ambassador of sorts.
Of what relevance is it anyway?
Yesterday, I had a chance to exchange a couple of comments with Renato Reyes Jr. when he said that Miss Universe Venezuela Dayana Mendoza's visit to the Philippines was "Very devious, these Smartmatic people. But this won't get you off the hook!"
I really don't know what offenses Renato is charging Smartmatic-TIM with, but I wouldn't put it outside of the sphere of charges that are on heavy repeat cycles in some cliques in the tibak crowd.
For one reason or another, seems remind me of the line taken by Communist leader Joma Sison that Smartmatic-TIM, outgoing Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and President Noynoy Aquino's sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada had somehow rigged the results of the 2010 elections.
Well, doubt the results if you must and pick at the faults of Smartmatic-TIM's poll automation project, but for God's sake... Be kind to my girlfriend!
She's working for world peace and trying to end hunger... So give her a break!
Being pretty is hard enough work as it is!
