Thoughts on Cory Aquino's first death anniversary

I liked Cory Aquino, but I really detest moves to make her a Saint and the way she had been used to further the political interests of those behind the candidacy of her son, Benigno S. Aquino III, who now sits as our President.

Cory Aquino was a political compromise taken to prevent what could have been a bloody battle between military factions controlled by then President Ferdinand Marcos, Fidel V. Ramos and Juan Ponce Enrile.

She wasn't the sort of President that achieved much during her term, unless, of course, you count the return of the Freedom of the Press and with the way things are, you'd wonder if we really ought to have a free press.

Well... On to the next post.
